Cycling the Thermal Lands
Two ways to ride Bulgaria's hot-water country: a week-long mountain loop from Sofia, or a flat coastal extension that finishes on the Pomorie sandbar between the salt lake and the sea.

Riding notes
- Best seasons: late April to mid-June, and September to late October.
- Roads are mostly quiet second-class asphalt; 32 mm tyres handle it comfortably.
- The Salt Coast extension is almost flat — ideal as an easy finish after the mountains.
- The Pomorie sandbar ride between lake and sea is short, scenic and best at sunrise.
- Trains take bicycles on most regional lines — useful for shortcutting home.
- Carry cash for village baths; many charge a few leva at the door.
- Add a rest day in Velingrad or Hisarya if you want full spa treatments.
